InspectorSpacetimeLogoby Travis Richey

Greetings, Inspectators!

In conjunction with our third standing-room-only panel at Gallifrey One, Siv-Art Productions is proud to announce that the web series that’s been praised by MTV, Entertainment Weekly, Nerdist, the AV Club and the Huffington Post, as well as named “the best of TV on the web” by USA Today, has a brand-new guest star!

The Seventh Doctor himself, SYLVESTER MCCOY (“Doctor Who”, The Hobbit) is joining the guest cast that already includes Robert Picardo (The Doctor in “Star Trek: Voyager”, “Stargate: Atlantis”), Chase Masterson (“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”), and Mayim Bialik (“Big Bang Theory”, “Blossom”). They’ll all be joining existing cast members Travis Richey (Inspector Spacetime on “Community”), Eric Loya, and Carrie Keranen.

Because of all these incredible casting additions, we’ve decided that instead of a second season of the web series, we’ll be doing a feature-length film! “Untitled Web Series” will now become The Inspector Chronicles: Untitled Motion Picture About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time!! See The Inspector like you’ve never seen him before! See him face villains he’s never faced before! And, of course, see him flee like he has never fleed before! Flown? Flew. Fled. …like he has never fled before!

McCoy

The film will be directed by acclaimed director Nicholas Acosta and produced by former Director of Development for Marvel Studios, Golan Ramras! Acosta directed the Prequel Episode that was just released for the series, which blew away all expectations about what this creative team could accomplish.

Executive Producer and star Travis Richey (“Pretty Little Liars”, “Community”) had this to say about the series’ latest casting coup: “As a lifelong Doctor Who fan, I was thrilled with the possibility to work with Sylvester McCoy! We’ve been working on this for the last year or so, and I finally got a chance to meet Sylvester in October in London, where we discussed the project over tea. Come on. That’s the kind of thing this small-town kid from Wisconsin never thought he’d be able to say…”

Co-writer and co-star Eric Loya exclaimed, “If the coolest thing I ever did was play a scene opposite Mayim Bialik’s voice, I’d be a happy man. But to get to write for and act with actual Doctor Who and multiple Star Trek alums? I can’t even wrap my brain around this!”

Director Nicholas Acosta (Riddance, Friend Request) couldn’t help geeking out a little bit himself, “Doctor Who and Radagast the Brown with The Inspector? I feel like the universe is going to explode.”

Sylvester McCoy himself commented, “It’s a brilliant piece of work! Marvelous, and I really want to work with The Inspector!”

The film is currently entering the pre-production phase, and is seeking help from fans while we also seek investors. You can help become part of this acclaimed series by pledging as little as $1 here:

Please DONATE if you can! There are some fantastic perks available, which you can view at the link, and of course you’ll have the Inspector’s eternal gratitude! Which, considering he’s an immortal being, “eternal gratitude” is a pretty big deal…

We’re thrilled to be bringing this to you, and we can’t wait to get started! But, until then:

Emmy-Nominated actress Mayim Bialik  joins the cast of Untitled Web Series About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time as the voice of The Inspector’s time machine!
by Travis Richey

Greetings, Inspectators!

As production begins on the Season 2 Prequel Episode of the hit web series USA Today called “the best TV on the web for 2012”, Siv-Art Productions is proud to announce that Mayim Bialik (Big Bang Theory, Blossom) is joining the cast of the show fans still call “Inspector Spacetime”.  Mayim will be playing the voice of the B.O.O.T.H., The Inspector’s time machine.

Producer and star Travis Richey (Pretty Little LiarsCommunity’s Inspector Spacetime) had previously worked with Mayim at ACME Comedy Hollywood when he produced the digital content there for ACME Saturday Night in 2010.  “I am beyond thrilled to have Mayim involved with the series,” Travis said.  “Besides being an amazing actress, she’s a brilliant and wonderful human being.  Her take on the personality of the BOOTH made us go in and completely rethink the character.  It’s so much more interesting now, and of course we had add more lines for Mayim.”

Mayim

Travis and Mayim reconnected by chance after being seated next to each other on a flight from Milwaukee to LA in November 2011, and the conversation included talk of Inspector Spacetime and looking for opportunities to work together.  “I am thrilled to be part of the Inspector Spacetime world,” said Mayim.  “As a Doctor Who fan, Inspector Spacetime satisfies all of my theatrical and nerdy desires. Putting on an admittedly poor fake British accent and working with the awesome and talented Travis Richey made me feel like a bonafide nerd-girl.”

The Season 2 Prequel Episode is currently in pre-production, with Nick Acosta (Battle of Hogwarts, Riddance) directing.  “Sweet! She has to do it in her Amy Fowler voice!” Nick said when Mayim joined the cast.  “We’ll see.” Travis responded, diplomatically.  Production on the fan-funded episode is slated to begin later this month with a yet-to-be-announced release date.

EDITED TO ADD THIS NOTE FOR TRAVIS: Um, sorry about the show’s name in the headline, dood, but the real name is way too long for our space.

Travis Richey, the creator of this terrific series, which used to be seen on a little cult TV show called COMMUNITY, is readying Season 2 of his newly renamed – yet again  cuz that’s how he rolls – Not Inspector Spacetime web series.

The show is up on Kickstarter right now, with just a couple of days to go to reach its goal of $10,000 so it can go into production. As of this writing it’s very close, but we recommend you get over there and consider taking the plunge anyway cuz we know y’all wanna be in, hip, and trendy, and this is the in, hip, and trendy Kickstarter series to be part of. Hell, even LB coughed up a few bucks. (The man’ll do anything to get his name on the credits of a show.)

Here’s the in, hip, and trendy BACK TO THE FUTURE mash-up:

Well, for one brief, shining moment anyway:

Doctor Who meets Not Inspector Spacetime

Yeppers, it’s DOCTOR WHO’s Doctor and NOT INSPECTOR SPACETIME’s Not Inspector Spacetime, making each other’s acquaintance at last.

Found on Tumblr by one of TVWriter™’s favorite minions, good ole Minion 42.

And, speaking of Not Inspector Spacetime, creator Travis Richey contacted us awhile ago to clear up some intellectual property rights questions about his show, which, even though it’s no longer part of COMMUNITY (quick quiz: What do Dan Harmon and the Inspector have in common?) can be found alive and well HERE.

Inasmuch as we figure that our visitors are as into all things having to do with creating/writing television as we are, here’s what Trav had to say:

As to the comment you received…, the copyright concerns boil down to the fact that community created exactly 4 things: The title “Inspector Spacetime”, the look of the character, Constable Reggie, and Blorgons.

We had already decided not to use Constable Reggie once we knew we’d have to make the series ourselves, and Blorgons were traded out for a fan-created menace in the form of Circuit Chaps. The simple fact of the matter is that I did not want to fight with one of my favorite shows. So we decided NOT to use the title “Inspector Spacetime” (even though you can’t actually copyright a title), and we changed the look of the character (even though a trench coat would be called scenes a faire in a copyright context – same with the BOOTH)

Everything else in the web series is the complete invention of myself and my writing partner and the fans. So we are pretty much completely free, legally-speaking, to create whatever we like.

I didn’t work out any deal with NBC or Sony. All I ever got was one phone call after i wrote a letter to a lawyer at Sony (it’s on the Facebook page if you want to read it)….

Though I must say, I’d LOVE if they came to me and wanted us to make official Inspector Spacetime episodes. I think the internet would explode a little. They could even have Season 1. All they’d need to do would be to create a new opening title sequence.

AXE COP Animated Series Coming to Fox in July

Fox-Axe-Cop-Animated-Series

One of the joys of working here at TVWriter™ has been bopping around the web discovering things like AXE COP, a web comic created by Malachai Nicolle, who at the time was a 5 year old boy living in Washington state, and illustrated by his almost-a-quarter-century-older brother Ethan.

AXE COP is a delightful celebration of well-intended mayhem, and it’s also become very, very popular. So popular, in fact, that Fox Network bought the rights, did the usual development thing, and, voila! at the riope old age of7, Malachai Nicolle is now the creator of a TV series. AXE COP, the TV series debuts July 27, featuring the voices of Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally (aha!), Patton Oswalt, and even COMMUNITY creator Dan Harmon.

Will it work? We smell a cult classic here at the very least. Stay tuned, doods. And, while you’re waiting, watch the damn clip:

Oh, and don’t forget: This could’ve been an article about you. Still could be if you get off your duff and write/draw/shoot that project you’ve been daydreaming about for years!
