Web Series: A Job, a Wife, A Life

If you’re a fan of the current crop of ironic TV comedies, you’re going to love the webseries A Job, a Wife, a Life, by Monkeyface Productions. The show is totally professional in every way, smooth acting, immaculate (and cruelly funny) script, production values that make you think you’re watching your parents’ 65″ Samsong TV.

Which does bring up a question? Is this show the kind of thing that we should be getting on the web? Whatever happened to experimentation? To going where no comedy has ever gone before? To being revolutionary instead of evolutionary? What’s going on here, dammit–

Sorry, getting kind of carried away there. read article

Writing Gigs: “Under the Radar” Looking for New Writers

under_the_radar_issue_58_the_protest_issue_med_res_new_writers_neededUnder The Radar Magazine is looking for new writers to write about music, films, TV shows, comic books, books, and – yes, for reals – DVDs.

Here’s the help wanted ad on their website:

Under the Radar is actively seeking experienced new writers to write for our print magazine, digital magazine for tablets/smart-phones, and our website. We’re not only looking for music writers, but are also on the hunt for writers who want to write about any of these entertainment mediums: film/DVDs, TV, comic books, and books. For example, we need more film writers based in New York City who can attend screenings and review films for us. Our regular writers also get to weigh in on important editorial decisions, such as who to put on our print magazine covers and what we think the best albums of each year are. Interested parties should please email writing samples to austin@undertheradarmag.com. read article
