Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are=&0=& (another YouTuber making good – all riight!) has a similar Vimeo thing happening, a science fiction drama called PARALLAX about “a young scientist who alone has knowledge of an imminent, cataclysmic meteor strike.” (What makes these two Vimeo projects special? Well, they’re both for Vimeo On Demand, which is the website’s foray into competition with Big Media TV, oh and they’re both being produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard, whose careers for many years have been the definition of A list in both TV and film. Anybody out there got a phone number for either Brian or Ron? I’m thinking maybe I should give ’em a call.) Back in the Big Media world, Jason Tracey (ELEMENTARY) has a new overall deal with CBS to keep kicking ass on that show and create new ones. (Try as I may, yer munchero just can’t come up with any decent snark about this guy. Cuz if anybody’s career arc has made him my hero, Jason’s the one. Congrats, dude, let’s get together so I can show you my new ELEMENTARY spec – which I’ll start writing as soon as I find the Final Draft template, don’tcha know?)

That’s it for now, munchaladas. Don’t forget to write in and tell yers truly what you’ve sold when you sell it. Cuz TVWriter™ can’t wait to brag to all your friends. (And, more importantly, enemies. Hehehe….)

Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are=&0=& (HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER) is also developing a comedy for ABC Family. This one’s called KEVIN FROM WORK and is about “a young man…who professes his love to a co-worker, thinking he’ll never see her again [after taking another job, only to discover that] the duo must continue to work together.” (WTF? That’s my munching life story!? Gotta get a gig on that series – so I can claim that my situation was just research. Everybody’ll buy that, right? Right? Uh-oh….) Peter Tolan (RESCUE ME) is writing the pilot for THE STUDIO, a drama about behind the scenes greed and opportunism at a film studio in the early 1990s. (Cuz it’s all cleaned up now? Is that what we’re supposed to believe? How dumb to the development execs think we are? Uh-oh, maybe we’re all better off if we never learn the answer to that one.)

Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are=&0=& (COMET) has had his USA series MR. ROBOT picked up for ten eps and even has a star now – Christian Slater. (Yeppers, kids, that’s right. The genius development and network execs have worked hand in hand to come up with the dumbest series title in many a year (and that’s against a hella competition) and in addition saddled it with a star who has never been able to make it on TV even though he’s had more spots in the starting gate than Bruce Willis has had movies. Sorry for your future loss, Sam.) Speaking of the stench of failure, Amazon Studios has cancelled its previously announced greenlighting of THE AFTER, a post-apocalypse series created by none other than Chris Carter,  saying, “We have decided not to move forward with THE AFTER. We would like to thank Chris Carter, the phenomenal cast, crew and producers for all their efforts.” (Notice how there’s no mention of the writers? Yer friendly neighborhood munchaphile figures that’s cuz they couldn’t come up with any to actually, erm, write the series. Why would I think that? Let’s just say I hear things…and sometimes they aren’t just things in my head.)

Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are=&0=& (WITHOUT A TRACE) has sold a spec script, HIGH PROFILE, to ABC as the pilot for an FBI drama about “a nationwide unit dedicated to investigating “crimes of the century.” (So if my knowledge of what a century is, is right, this’ll be one episode and out? Cuz you can’t have more than one “crime of the century,” can you? Or am I being too…you know, smart here?) =&1=&(writer of several unsuccessful Fox pilots but who wants to dwell on that?) is writing HBO’s DIVORCE, a comedy about, yeppers, you’ve got it, one of the funniest things that can happen to any married couple – the agony of divorce.  (Kee-rist, I’m sitting here laughing fit to bust just typing this. Ha ha ha, divorce! Ha, ha, ha divorce! I’m gonna have to get married and then booted out just so I can fully appreciate all the fine points of this brilliant idea.)

Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are=&0=& (L.A. CONFIDENTIAL) is developing SHAKEDOWN, a series about “the underbelly of Los Angeles in the 1950s” for HBO. (Hmm, I’m not really gettin’ that, but wouldn’t it be cool if I pitched that very same idea to Barbie Kligman? Chaos Man strikes!) =&1=&(Fox’s animated THE LUCAS BROTHERS MOVING COMPANY) are developing a live-action series for Fox based on the Lucas Brothers’ lives as identical twins with a goal – to take over Hollywood. (Here’s hoping that their lives are remotely interesting cuz so far the muncher hasn’t seen any series based on the life of a comedian that’s worth watching. Yeah, I’m including LOUIE, which was great until the Louie character on that show started – yuck – trying to rape people.)
