Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are=&0=& (90210) are writing an ABC comedy pilot called BOOKCLUB, about “four female friends who escape the pressures and responsibilities of adult life by pretending to be a book club.” (What I want to know is why anybody would pretend to be something that nobody in today’s culture has ever heard of. Book club? Book club? WTF? Oy oy oy!) =&1=& (I HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTERS) are writing the pilot for NBC’s untitled comedy centered on absolutely nothing that anybody involved will reveal. (Think that could be cuz they don’t &#%! know? All together now, what’s the word for today? “MARKETING,” kids, right!)

That’s it for now. Write in and tell munchilito what you’ve sold today. TVWriter™ can’t wait to brag to all your friends. (And, more importantly, enemies. Hehehe….)

  • Joe Robert Cole (movie guy who wrote a script for a film based on Marvel’s THE INHUMANS so yer friendly State Farm Insurance Agent munchman’s gotta love him) is writing the pilot for a CBS cop show about a black L.A. cop who’s a Republican. (Well, hey now, kids, that’s what it sez here, and if that’s enough to sell a series to CBS, well, we’d all better get over there and pitch before their D-peeps take the needles out of their arms.)
  • Paul Downs Colaizzo (a genuine New York playwright!) is writing a CBS pilot about “New York City’s wildest and most brilliant doctors as they start their second year of residency in the city’s most prestigious hospital.” (Wow, did you hear all those buzzwords? This show has everything TV shows are supposed to have – and absolutely nothing to do with reality. Looks like CBS has another hit coming. Did I say “wow” already? Cuz…wow!)
  • Mark Heyman (BLACK SWAN) is writing an adaptation of George Pendle‘s book, Strange Angel: The Otherworldly Life Of Rocket Scientist John Whiteside  for AMC. (Speaking of “wow,” do you suppose they’re going to stick with the book’s title? Cuz if they do…”Wow!” Oh, no wait, I mean, “Woe.” Ouch. Hey, they can’t all be winners. Time to move on to:)
  • Scott Silveri & Shana Goldberg-Meehan (FRIENDS) have a new comedy in development at NBC about “an uptight family man and his boomer parents who are attacking their golden years like it’s spring break.” (No letter pleeze, asking who the hell loves this junk enough to pay most people’s yearly salary for just one script on the subject. If I knew that answer I’d be one of them…so maybe it’s just as well that I don’t?)

That’s it for now. Write in and tell munchilito what you’ve sold today. TVWriter™ can’t wait to brag to all your friends. (And, more importantly, enemies. Hehehe….)

  • Mike & Julie Scully (THE SIMPSONS) have sold their spec sitcom, RAISING ADULTS to ABC. (And guess what? This one has a terrific logline about “a married couple hwo, over the course of 20 years of parenting three children, have gone from saying, “They grow up so fast” to “Will they ever grow up?” Stay-at-home kids have been done before, yes, but this time it’s actually about the parents, making this show if not “new and different” at least, “different,” and in TV these days I think that’s close enough.)
  • Neil Goldman & Garrett Donovan (THE IT CROWD) are re-booting the English hit series THE IT CROWD for the U.S., on NBC, no less. (Yes, my children, if you’re thinking, “Didn’t NBC already try this in the U.S. a few years ago?” you’re absolutely right. But creative bankruptcy is its own currency, which, evidently, Neil and Garrett are happy to take, so here the puke-cock network goes again. Sigh.)
  • David Israel (ABOUT A BOY) is writing a comedy about the sex life of bad actor Armie Hammer of THE LONE RANGER infamy for NBC. (Cuz Armie turns out to be really funny in bed, yer friendly neighborhood munchkin supposes. Or maybe it’s cuz he’s the great grandson of rich old dood Armand Hammer and Armand refused to pay the blackmail money. Who the &!%$ knows?)/li>
  • Peter Huyck & Alex Gregory (FRASIER) are an NBC comedy pilot about “a worldly, adventurous, and newly sober narcissist…back in his hometown making amends to his kids, his ex-wife, her second ex-husband and their younger son,” none of whom is too crazy about the idea. (Sounds to moi like this should’ve been written for my man Charlie Sheen, but it’s got Rob Lowe attached. Oh well, close enough!)

That’s it for now. Write in and tell munchilito what you’ve sold today. TVWriter™ can’t wait to brag to all your friends. (And, more importantly, enemies. Hehehe….)

Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are=&0=& (THE FINEST HOURS) is developing LIFE IN THE SHADOWS, some whacked-out FBI-witness protection abomination that the production company, Landscape Entertainment, hopes to sell to some network somewhere, some time. (Sorry, sorry, this really is no news at all. In my defense, all I can say is Landscape’s PR person made me cover this. Promised me a big scoop on their next big project, so how could a mere muncher resist?) =&1=& (Hey, they’re a big deal writing trio at the BBC) are writing the pilot for NBC’s THE SPENCER TAPES, a comedy about “a…college professor who rediscovers his old camcorder tapes and realizes that life hasn’t turned out the way he’d hoped.” (And if that doesn’t sound funny enough, consider this: The professor’s all of 30 years old, so, yeah, of course his life and chances are already over cuz…30, y’know?)

That’s it for now. Write in and tell munchilito what you’ve sold today. TVWriter™ can’t wait to brag to all your friends. (And, more importantly, enemies. Hehehe….)

Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are=&0=& (HELLRAISER) is developing NBS’s THE ZONE, a sci-fi-esque drama with a premise so convoluted that all I can come up with is that with luck it’ll be like ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK but with an ass-kicking babe as the lead. (Which means yer munchilito will watch even if there’s no hilarity at all. I know what you’re thinking, but it’s not the babe part that interests me, no, no, no. It’s the ass-kicking. So, see, I’m still that politically correct dude y’all love.) =&1=& (NIM’S ISLAND) are writing a reboot of – OMG! OMG! the ancient Bill Bixby vehicle THE COURTSHIP OF EDDIE’S FATHER for Fox. (Cuz…cuz…c’mon, kids, help me out. Why the fuck would they even think of doing this? No, never mind. I don’t even want to know.)
