Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are
by munchman

  • Sally Robinson (STEEL MAGNOLIAS) is adapting Dalma Heyn‘s 1992 book, The Erotic Silence of the American Wife, into a drama for ABC. (Presumably cuz the title is impossible to resist. Ah, the wonders of 21st Century marketing!)
  • Ed Decter (UNFORGETTABLE) just got a gig as showrunner of an as-yet-unsold-to-a-network TV version of MORTAL INSTRUMENTS, which was sort of a hit as a film, um, “franchise.” (Yeppers, they’re using the “F” word even though there’s only been one film. See what Little Timmy Muncher here means about marketing?)
  • Patti Carr & Lara Olsen (90210) are writing an ABC comedy pilot called BOOKCLUB, about “four female friends who escape the pressures and responsibilities of adult life by pretending to be a book club.” (What I want to know is why anybody would pretend to be something that nobody in today’s culture has ever heard of. Book club? Book club? WTF? Oy oy oy!)
  • Sherry Bilsing-Graham & Ellen Kreamer (I HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTERS) are writing the pilot for NBC’s untitled comedy centered on absolutely nothing that anybody involved will reveal. (Think that could be cuz they don’t &#%! know? All together now, what’s the word for today? “MARKETING,” kids, right!)

That’s it for now. Write in and tell munchilito what you’ve sold today. TVWriter™ can’t wait to brag to all your friends. (And, more importantly, enemies. Hehehe….)
