  • Cole Haddon (DRACULA) is developing NOTTINGHAM, a BBC America project about how the Sheriff of Nottingham (you remember him) becomes this foresty thief – yeppers, Robin Hood – to atone for the bad stuff he has to do in his day job. (And guess what? The munchy one absolutely loves that idea cuz…Zorro in tights seems very, very cool.)
  • Jonathan Groff (HAPPY ENDINGS) is the new showrunner for NBC’s new FIFTH WHEEL, created by interweb series writers Heidi Niedermeyer & Elena Crevello (SHIT PEOPLE SAY IN L.A.). (Criminy, gang, if ever there was a fifth wheel it’s Groff with his TV network sensibility. And yours truly was so looking forward to seeing two of our own – Heidi and Elena – kick broadcast television butt.)
  • Brian Larsen (not any of the Brian Larsens on IMDB) is suing all kinds of folks involved with Showtime’s RAY DONOVAN, claiming that the network stole his concept and various details. However, he isn’t suing Ann Biderman, who is credited as the creator of the show. (Cuz he figures she was just an innocent dupe who agreed to write up an idea Showtime execs gave her? Well, it wouldn’t be the first time a writer did that. Yer favorite muncher will try to keep up with this one cuz once, just once, I’d like to find out if somebody’s allegations of series stealing are, you know, actually founded in some kind of reality. Preferably real reality, but this is TV so who knows?)

Peer Production: BECOMING RICARDO is Back

Becming Ricardo Cast

BECOMING RICARDO is the American dream – a web comedy series made by Hispanics (are we allowed to say that? It’s so hard to keep track of what’s politically correct when you only read entertainment sites), featuring Hispanics and done so well that whatever your background  you’re going to identify with the characters and root like hell for them.

Especially if you’re a TVWriter™ type visitor and can fully appreciate the pull of a career in showbiz the way Jesenia’s character, Ricardo, does. read article

Peer Production: PATHETICALLY CHEAP ADVENTURES

“The only thing tighter than the leotard was the budget.”

We have no idea what this site is really selling but enjoyed everything we saw there and have a feeling that a lot of you will too.

  • Jessie Eisenberg (THE REVISIONIST – a play) has sold a short story collection,  Bream Gives Me Hiccups: And Other Stories to Grove Atlantic. (And you thought the Jessman was just another nerdy pretty face, no? Hey, baby, take it from the muncher – star power sells.)
  • Gillian Flynn (GONE GIRL) is adapting the British thriller drama series UTOPIA for HBO. (Cuz she has a hot indie film and a deal already in place at HBO which makes her the perfect choice. Especially that last bit – the deal already in place. Hey, peeps were asking why I’ve been so positive lately so I’ve gotta squash that, you know? Wouldn’t wanna ruin me rep.)
  • Sarah Schecter (Warner Brothers production exec) is the new head person at Berlanti Productions. (Which means that if you know her, use her! Cuz that, friends and neighbors is the heart and soul of that wonderful little thang called showbiz!)
  • Frank DeJohn & David Alton Hedges (2013 Nicholl Fellowship Winners) are writing a Lifetime movie about “Jesus’ early life and formative years.” (And you betcha ole’ muncher can talk trash about this one. But won’t. Except to point out that this is another wonderful example of showbiz in action. Hire award-winning, high-style writers to churn out some “Young Jesus” or “Jesus: The Lost Years” trash. Welcome to TV, Frank and David!)
