TV Shows That Were Canceled After 1 Episode

Plus one that was canceled before the first episode finished airing!

EDITED BY LB TO ADD: TURN-ON, which was canceled in mid-appearance in 1969 must hold the record for shortest-lived series. Being an alte cocker, I was privileged to actually have seen the episode, and all I can say is I’ve seen worse – much worse – debuts for shows that went on for years. (In fact, some of my own shows come to mind.)

munchman: An All Puppet episode of COMMUNITY?

community-puppet-episode

The word from Nikke Fink is that COMMUNITY is promising an all-puppet episode in its entirely justified attempt to climb out of the ratings cellar. The idea is to use puppet versions of all the main characters plus a cameo from the real, non-puppet Jason Alexander.

We think this is a wonderful idea and might even tune in to see how it shapes up. Why do we say “might?” Well, it’s the, you know, Jason Alexander thing. Does anybody really want to see him, live or puppet-like, on their TV screen? Dead, OTOH. read article

And it’s easy to skip over the more simple things a writer needs to keep in mind or do or both. The more general concepts you kind of have to get into your head and keep there.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. A writer has to read and write – a lot. You have to love it. You have to pretty much think about it when you’re not doing it. You must do both. The more you write the better you write. The more you read the better you write. If you read some bad writing it’s a great lesson in what not to do. Great writing gives you great tips on what you should do. Quite simply they go hand in hand. If you don’t have time to read then forget the writing. read article
