We’ve written about the web series BECOMING RICARDO numerous times on this site. So, for that matter, have its creators. (Do a site search and be amazed. Go on. We’ll wait.) Now, though, it’s time to tell you how the Web Series Channel, a primo peer production destination, feels about this subject:
Becoming Ricardo is a half hour quirky, fun family sitcom! It’s about a girl, named Jesenia, a struggling actress who aspires to be a famous non-struggling actress – and will do just about anything to make it happen. Lucky for her – there is an Open Call audition for the HIT TV show – Crime, Law and Justice.

This is just one of many wonderful videos available on Vimeo from Gobelins, a genuine pioneer studio in digital communication and design. Right now, Gobelins has 700 students from all over the world, and when this place calls itself “vibrant,” it ain’t kidding.
Recently there was an article in The Guardian about the future of web series that’s been causing a bit of an uproar in the indie web series community.
It says that web series are in decline because Hollywood has stepped in and indie creators can’t compete with the big guns: Netflix and Amazon. It goes as far as saying that aside from a few established talents/series that have managed to sustain themselves, everyone else seems to have “packed their bags and gone home.”
Wow. Harsh! I agree. And disagree.
