by Team TVWriter™ Press Service

As if we didn’t already have plenty of reasons (how many ‘r’s in “brr?”) for wishing for summer, now comes the news that Duck Tales will be back on the air in “Summer, 2017.”

Based on Carl Barks’ classic Uncle Scrooge Comics of the ’50s, the original version of this show, which ran from 1987 through 1990, was itself an instant classic, and, to this TVWriter™ minion, one of the absolute best ever animated series in TV history,  which is why we’re so knocked out to hear this, from Marc Buhaj, Senior VP of Programming and General Manager of Disney XD: read article

WGAW Negotiating Committee Named

Is this in our future? Ya never know....
Is this in our future? Ya never know….

Yeppers, it’s that time again. You know, the one where we writers of TV and feature films have to gird our loins and prepare to grind out an agreement on a new contract between the Writers Guild of America,  West, and our mortal enemies overlords employers, The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

D-Day is May 1, 2017. Here’s how things stand now, per the Guild:

WGA ANNOUNCES NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE

The Writers Guilds of America, West and East have named the members of the negotiating committee for the upcoming contract negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. WGAW Executive Director David Young will serve as Chief Negotiator. The current agreement expires May 1, 2017. No date has been set for the talks. We will update you as important developments occur. read article

The Writers Guild of America, both West and East chapters, announced the nominees for the 2017 WGA Awards yesterday, and all we can say is, “Whoa? What happened to the broadcast networks?”

The broadcast nets’ representation on the following lists is, to say the least, minimal. Does this mean that everything they put on the air sucks? Or is it just further proof of the vast chasm between what writers consider “quality” and what networks like?

Either way, yikes! read article
