Lucy V Hay continues her journey to get to the bottom of all things writerly. The following article contains some of the best advice we’ve ever seen for facing the kinds of obstacles all to often sends our way:

We all have challenges to our writing. In today’s world we all live busy, hectic lives and sometimes it can feel impossible to finish writing what we started. But what about those of us who face extra obstacles or challenges that can make writing a page feel like writing War and Peace?

Vesta Giles, winner of the PEOPLE’S PILOT 2018 Special Web Series pilot script award has made her directorial debut on YouTube via Telus Storyhive, a Canadian production company currently giving out production grants to those who need and deserve them.
Vesta has promised to write an article telling us all about Storyhive, which we will be running in the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile, here’s When I’m Dead, a short film filled with joy both because of and in spite of the title.

Arstechnica.Com, one of the most respected tech sites on the interwebs, is looking for, as they put it, “an experienced reporter—a true journalistic hustler who will work the (literal and metaphorical) phones to bring our readers fresh, hot news about the interaction between technology and society.”
They want someone with at least three years of reporting experience who can write with the same tone and attitude demonstrated in the paragraph above. The job is full-time, and they’re a good place. We don’t recommend employers, but if we did…well, this seems like a good thing to us if you need a day job to keep you going until your TV writing dreams come true.
THE USUAL NOTE FROM LB: From the summer of 2002 to the spring of 2010, Gwen the Beautiful and I were the proud and often exhausted owners of a beautiful Ozarks property we called Cloud Creek Ranch.
In many ways, the ranch was paradise. But it was a paradise with a price that started going up before we even knew it existed. Here’s another Monday musing about our adventure and the lessons we learned.
Oh, and if y’all detect any irony, please believe me when I say it comes straight from the universe and not your kindly Uncle Larry B.
