For filmmaking in particular, it’s not hard to find newsletters that are relevant to you. Newsletters are a great way to figure out where your peers are hanging out on a regular basis, get updates on upcoming events (online and off), and who in your industry you should be paying attention to. Fans have been arguing about whether CBS’ Star Trek: Discovery is absolute genius or total dreck since the series premiered in 2018. Now it’s 2019 (“Oh, really? I’ll be damned”), and last week brought us the second season premiere–

“Grey’s Anatomy” Showrunner Krista Vernoff Signs Overall Deal with ABC Studios

We love it when the media are all agog about a showrunner signing and big buck deal. And, truth to tell, we love it even more when the showrunner is as talented as Grey’s Anatomy’s Krista Vernoff. Congrats, lady. Take a bow:

rista Vernoff is sticking with ABC and “Grey’s Anatomy.” The Hollywood Reporter confirms the “Grey’s” showrunner has inked a multi-year overall deal with ABC Studios. The pact will see Vernoff and her producing partner and husband, Alexandre Schmitt, creating and developing projects for ABC Studios via their new shingle, Trip the Light Productions. Vernoff will also continue to showrun the tentpole medical drama.

Vernoff is president of Trip the Light, and Schmitt is president of production and development. read article
