  • Len Wiseman (SLEEPY HOLLOW) and Scott Rosenbaum (GANG RELATED) are teaming up to write a science fiction pilot described as “The Dirty Dozen in deep space? for Fox. (Which as old-fashioned as it sounds still seems kinda catchy to el munchero. Besides, this is a new and original idea compared to the oft-written but never shot pilots that described th emselves as “The Magnificent Seven in deep space.” I’m hopeful. For reals.)
  • Scott Foley & Greg Grunberg (FELICITY) are developing a “relationship comedy” for ABC about the lies being told at a wedding. (Hey, if you think the premise is unworkable, wait’ll you see who’s running the production of this thing: Shonda Rimes. How long do you give it before the comedy turns to soap? I’m thinking two episodes, but then I’m an optimist at heart.)
  • Neil Cross (LUTHER) is doing a U.S. remake of the series for Fox. (No, Idris Elba won’t star – or so he says. Instead he’ll be a producer cuz that’s, you know, where his real talent lies…?)
  • John Hamberg (MEET THE PARENTS) is going into the TV development biz with an overall deal at Fox. (And my munchiness is jumping up and down with excitement cuz…ZOOLANDER! Yeppers, John co-wrote that. And…I know the guy. All I’ve gotta do is butter him up a bit and a staff job is mine, all mine, mine I say! Hehehehehehehehe…Or not.)

That’s it for now. Write in and tell munchilito what you’ve sold today. TVWriter™ can’t wait to brag to all your friends. (And, more importantly, enemies. Hehehe….)

  • Jessica Ball (ROYAL PAINS) is adapting Timothy Hallinan‘s comedy crime series of novels about JUNIOR BENDER into a series for NBC. (Of course, you wouldn’t know it from the lede of the Hollywood Reporter’s version of the story, which features producer-star Eddie Izzard in such a way that you’d think he was the writer. And while the Iz-man may be a lot of things, he isn’t the writer of this potentially interesting new show.)
  • Jerry Collins (THE BERNIE MAC SHOW) is writing the pilot for an ABC comedy called BIG STOP, about “today’s current issues as seen through the lens of a bustling Kansas truck stop.” (Man, I sure wish I’d been at the pitch meeting for this one cuz I’ve been having insomnia recently and listening to this concept would’ve put me right out. Think maybe the fact that another star – ABC’s own Eric Stonestreet of MODERN FAMILY – is producing kept the development execs alert?)
  • Dan Frey & Russell Sommer (newbies, yay!) are developing the Fox miniseries ST.PATRICK about…aw, you can figure it out. (Yer friendly neighborhood munchhausen is thinking that this one’s being made cuz historical minis are hot as well as cuz there’s another big name attached to the project. No, not an acting star but a writing-producing star, Len Wiseman, showrunner of Fox’s very own SLEEPY HOLLOW. Good luck, Dan and Russell!)
  • Jenni Ross (nope, sorry, nobody’s saying exactly which Jenni Ross, but yer munchiness is hoping it’s the comedian) is developing FIRST LADY, a U.S. version of a hit Chilean series, for the CW about, it sez her, “one woman’s rags-to-riches journey from illegal immigrant to the White House. where she battles injustice and her own sordid past….” (God, I love people with sordid pasts. In fact, some of my best friends have notably sordid pasts. And my GF, well…kidding, sweetie, really. Of course the readers understand I just went for a cheap laugh. Of course I’m sorry. Wait, honey, come back–)

Well, that’s definitely it for now. Write in and tell munchilito what you’ve sold today. TVWriter™ can’t wait to brag to all your friends. (And, more importantly, enemies. Hehehe….)
