- I TOLD YOU SO.
Welcome to Islabrea, a New Encounter Party! Adventure.
Encounter Party! and Play+1 have partnered with the studio Zombie Orpheus Entertainment to develop our podcast into a web series to be broadcast on The Fantasy Network! This production will be a tightly edited gaming adventure with professional scoring . . . and refines each episode to about 50-70 minutes of high energy storytelling and expert gameplay. Audibly it will sound exactly the same with all the added elements you might enjoy from a livestream; adapted and crafted by a professional film studio.
The Fantasy Network is a “mostly free” streaming platform for web series and short films. Some of their shows are free to watch, but they also have a premium option for $4.99 per month. From what I’ve seen (very little), their productions are high quality.
- OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS, PART 1.
Less is Morgue Seeks New Scripts.
Less is Morgue, a queer horror-comedy podcast, is looking for new writers. From the website: “We’re big believers in the virtues of episodic, cartoon-style comedy storytelling in the vein of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Gravity Falls, and the classic era of The Simpsons.”
They have “several” seasons planned out, each season consisting of 31 episodes, so they are opening submissions for freelance scripts. All requirements for submission are listed in the linked Google Doc. And, oh, yeah, they’re paying $50 per script!
It all begins with a pitch, so get in there!
OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS, PART 2.
Write A Doctor Who Short Trip Story!
From the website: “Big Finish today opens its annual Short Trips writing opportunity, seeking new writers to create a Doctor Who short story to be released as an audiobook at Christmas 2020.” Guidelines for submission are available at the link below. Deadline is June 30, 2020. The terms and conditions don’t specify a cash prize, but they don’t say that there isn’t one, either. In any case, Big Finish tends to reuse writers they like. With pay!
QR Codes – A Great Way To Promote & Share Your Podcast.
One of the most difficult parts of promoting and sharing a podcast is finding a quick, simple, painless way to directly connect a new listener, particularly those who may not know how to find and listen to podcasts. In this article, the prolific Lindsay Harris Friel points out that QR codes may be the secret sauce. She gives a brief but clear overview of what they are and how to use them. A great idea!
- IF YA WANNA WRITE, YA GOTTA LISTEN.
On December 25th, 2007, movie star and heiress Julie Capsom crashed her car into a tree in Northern California, walked into a nearby clearing, and vanished, leaving behind a male torso in her trunk. 10 years later, reporter Bea Casely and private detective Brenda Bentley are going to reopen the case. Created, Written, and Produced by Emily VanDerWerff, Christopher Dole, and Sara Ghaleb, the series is a behind the scenes docudrama of the investigation. The production is pleasingly professional, and the bickering between Bea and Brenda adds a dimension not usually found in this format. Well worth a listen.
Until next week, same Pod-time, same Pod-channel, keep listening and keep creating.
