The Writers with Disabilities Committee is looking for ways to aid disabled writers in pursuing their careers in Hollywood and to encourage accurate portrayals of the disabled in film and television. July 2019 WGAW Member Film Screenings

NOTE FROM LB: Contrary to appearances, the Writers Guild of America West and Writers Guild of America East do much, much more for their members than lead them into battle with agents.

The combined Writers Guild of America sets minimum wages, administrates health and pension plans for its members (plans in which employers shoulder the heavy part of the financial load – thanks to the Guild), gives awards, throws parties, conducts seminars, holds hands, and has free screenings of contemporary films each month. Yo, Screenwriters! Ready to “Write Your Bills Away?”

SoCreate, a new screenwriting site based in San Luis Obispo, CA, with a website addy that kind of implies it’s in Italy, is “working on a new way for people of all ages to transform their amazing stories into scripts.”

We aren’t clear on what this new way is because the site itself doesn’t say much more than that…oh, and also “We’re Hiring!” which is something we always like to read or hear, but theannouncement below definitely has gotten our attention. read article
