women-of-la-tvwriter.comWimmens in LA! Woo!

In an earlier post today we talked about Jamie Abrams and DJ Lubel, who parlayed their viral video, THE WOMEN OF LA, into a major gig.

Eight Creativity Lessons From a Pixar Animator

The other day we realized that although here at TVWriter™ we have a natural tendency toward, well, snark and often poke a little (okay, sometimes a lot) fun at various thoughts/issues/ideas/stuff, there’s one company that we’ve never mocked in any way.

Pixar.

The following creamy goodness does a damn good job of showing why: read article

Challenges The Networks Face This Fall

The first new fall series, Fox’s Sleepy Hollow, premiered last week, marking the unofficial start of the 2013-14 broadcast season. A slew of new shows and a legion of returning ones will unspool over the next couple of months.

In the past, that would mean a bloody skirmish in every time slot, with one show coming out victorious and the rest in moderate or grave danger. Now with DVR and online viewing, several shows airing in the same time period can be popular. But will they all be successful? read article

Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are

  • Jeff Dixon (sorry but we have no idea who he is) has sold a spec pilot to ABC Family called THE FINAL GIRLS  and is some kind of a horror project. (And we use the word “horror” in its fullest sense cuz look out world, Jamie Lee Curtis is set to star in this thing. And, yeppers, we find her horrifying indeedy.)
  • Jamie Abrams & DJ Lubel (WOMEN OF LA) have sold a showbiz comedy, LAST NIGHT, to Fox. (This particular sale is a Big Deal cuz Jamie and DJ are newbies who got one Acme Ton O’Attention when their WOMEN OF LA video went bigtime viral. We can do it, kids. Really we can! Congrats, guys, you’re an inspiration.)

Peggy Bechko: Are you “Aspiring” to Write?
