Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are=&0=& (CHILDREN OF MEN) is adapting yet another comic book into a TV series. This one’s called FROM HELL and is going to FX. (Yeppers, comic book nerds, the print version of FROM HELL was written by Alan Moore. Anybody know if he signed off on this? If they’ll be using his name? Yer pal munchikins really wants to know.) Jeff Eastin (WHITE COLLAR) has renewed his overall writing and producing deal with Fox TV. (So we can expect more mediocrity to land on our teeny little cellphone screens. Ain’t showbiz grand?) =&1=& (GROUNDED FOR LIFE) are the new showrunners of TV Land comedy THE SOUL MAN. (Showbiz and TVWriter™ vets know the drill: If you know these guys, call ’em, take ’em to lunch. Pitch your heart out so your agent can jump for joy and tell you how he got you staffed!) =&2=& (THE GLADES) is writing an ABC drama pilot based on a series of books by Ingrid Thoft who basically sound like refugees from a Shonda Rimes show. (Which ain’t bad, really, if, like a certain muncher, you like to get stoned and watch primetime soaps.)

That’s it for now. Write in and tell munchilito what you’ve sold today. TVWriter™ can’t wait to brag to all your friends. (And, more importantly, enemies. Hehehe….)

Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are

  • Tom Szentgyorgyi (THE MENTALIST) is writing the pilot for REDS, a science fiction Western, for The CW. (In other words, brace yourself for another FIREFLY imitator that, when push comes to shove, is prettymuch guaranteed to disappoint.)
  • Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing (SPARTACUS) are developing GRINGO, a drama based on Hipolito Acosta’s book The Shadow Catcher, about a U.S. agent who infiltrates a Mexican crime cartel. (No punchline here. Cuz our reaction to this one will depend entirely on how well it’s realized on paper and onscreen.)
  • Clifton Campbell (THE GLADES) has a pilot commitment at Fox for his family drama, BILLY RAY. (Robert Zemeckis is set to direct, so we’re, you know, hopeful that it’ll look better than GLADES did. Seems pretty cincy, actually.)
  • EMILY MORTIMER & DOLLY WELLS (both actress but we love ’em anyway) have created DOLL & EM, a comedy for HBO about…actresses. (So of course we’re confident that hilarity will follow.)
  • Nick Kreiss (PUNK’D) has a deal for HOW TO BE AN ADULT, a “semi-autobiographical comedy for ABC. (Which means it’s about a realilty producer who gets a scripted show deal? We are not amused. Being a reality producer is, as everybody knows, absolutely unforgiveable! Think we’ll catch flak for saying that?)
