Peer Production: THE NEW ADVENTURES OF PETER AND WENDY

Okay, so LB walks into the room and says to us minions, “Hey, minions, I need one of you to watch a web series called THE NEW ADVENTURES OF PETER AND WENDY and write a short review for TVWriter™.”

Knowing that Our Beloved Leader is a huge sucker for anything about Peter or Wendy or Captain Hook or any of those folks, one of us (nope, ain’t saying who) innocently asked, “Why don’t you do it?”

To which LB replied. “I did the first half. Watched it, I mean.”

“And?”

“That’s as far as I can go.”

“Cuz you loved it but acknowledge that you’re biased in favor of the underlying material?”

“Not quite.”

“Cuz you loved it but your hand is broken so you can’t type?”

“Not exactly.”

“Cuz you’re so spellbound by what you saw that you don’t want to ruin your high by verbalizing your feelings?”

“Just watch the damn thing!” LB thundered, and stomped out the door.

So, um, we did. All of us.

And then we understood why he couldn’t write the review.

Cuz we can’t either. And if you watch this pilot episode, you’ll – heh – see why:

  1. I like it. One camera, one location, minimal editing. Nice and easy production. What? Is it interesting and/or funny? No, but does that matter these days?

    1. Hmm, tell me the truth, Robin. Is your comment a genuine defense of this show or clever way of expressing contempt/frustration with current standards? To put it another way – if this isn’t interesting or funny, why would anyone watch it?

  2. Pretty much just being sarcastic. After struggling with the editing of “Pastor Damien” I would like to do a nice simple show, but you have to write something worth watching, especially if you have simple production values.
