Mr. Stone initially said he hoped Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks or Mr. Lucas’s Lucasfilm could serve as a model for Important Studios, then paused for a moment. “In some ways it’s a stupid comparison because they are gargantuan,” he said. “We want to be a smaller, more humble version of that.”
He continued: “If DreamWorks is Walmart, we are over here knitting sweaters.”
Here’s what David S. Goyer, creator-writer-producer of the new Starz series, has to say about his new show, coming April 12th, via The H’wood Reporter:
“We’ve embellished it with what I’m calling historical fantasy; he had an incredible life and we didn’t have to embellish as much as you’d think. I didn’t want to do Ye Olde Historical Drama; I wanted to do something historical, viewed through a modern prism… Da Vinci is kind of superhero-y, there are so many legends and tall tales about him. People have said aside from Christ he’s the most recognizable figure in the world. My approach wasn’t unsimilar to adapting Batman and Superman — obviously we did a lot more research.”

Proving that CBS has no respect whatsoever for those outstanding critters known as “writers,” CBS has announced that viewers of the January 14th episode of HAWAII FIVE-0 will be able to vote to determine who the killer of the show’s victim of the week will be.
That’s right, kids, it’s going to be up to the audience to decide if the murderer is the victim’s boss, his teaching assistant, or a student the victim, a college professor, caught cheating.
