CBS Wants You to Choose HAWAII FIVE-0 Episode Ending

Proving that CBS has no respect whatsoever for those outstanding critters known as “writers,” CBS has announced that viewers of the January 14th episode of HAWAII FIVE-0 will be able to vote to determine who the killer of the show’s victim of the week will be.

That’s right, kids, it’s going to be up to the audience to decide if the murderer is the victim’s boss, his teaching assistant, or a student the victim, a college professor, caught cheating.

You’ll be able to vote via CBS.Com or Twitter thanks to this idea expressed by Executive Producer Peter Lenkov:

I’ve always felt the most fun aspect of watching a mystery is trying to figure out whodunit Now the ‘Hawaii Five-0’ viewers will actually get the chance to tell us who they think committed the crime and we will listen. I love that our dedicated and attentive fans will actually play a part in resolving our story.

We admit that we would’ve hoped, what with Lenkov being a writer and all, that he would want to have the best possible ending to an episode as opposed to the most popular, which is what online voting will create. As viewers, we think this is a cool concept. As wannabe television writers, we’re appalled by the complete lack of concern for artistic integrity.

Gimmicks will never replace good storytelling – unless ratings for this ep soar above FIVE-o’s usual numbers, in which case you can bet your booty more gimmicks will be on their way. We’re thinking it’s boycott time. You with us? Are ya? Huh?
