LB mentor and friend Stan Lee wants us all to know that YouTube Spaces has partnered with Stan and his company, POW! Entertainment for a special screening and panel discussion on Halloween.

The videos in this screening series are the “best of” results from the “World of Superheroes” program YouTube Spaces, Stan, and POW! hosted last summer in L.A., N.Y., Tokyo, London, and Sao Paulo, where creators were given an original superhero’s lair set, costume designers, visual effects artists, stunt coordinators, and a flying rig to bring their big ideas to life. read article

April Hernandez-Castillo & Victor Cruz
April Hernandez-Castillo & Victor Cruz

Adventures in Digital Series Land #112
by Leesa Dean

Victor Cruz–no not the athlete–is a great actor/comedian I was lucky enough to meet about seven years ago.  Gil T, another great comedian who originally was part of the legendary comedy duo, The Most Brothers (HBO, Fox, opened internationally for some of the biggest names in the business) had worked on some shorts with him and when I was thinking about doing Chilltown, Gil recommended him.  Highly.

I’d known Gil from a project we worked on together that Comedy Central *almost* bought. I was the writer/producer and it was so much fun and Gil was so incredible in it I knew we’d work together again. Plus, his word meant a lot to me. I already had cast him in Chilltown.

I hired Victor, essentially, without an audition and never looked back. He crushed it when we recorded voiceovers. Subsequently, I’ve hired Victor for nearly every project I’ve done. He’s THAT good.  And so professional. And and all-around nice guy.  Ok, I’ll stop gushing. read article

Crowdfunding: STAR WARS/JAY-Z Parody

The ever-popular, just-waiting-to-become-immortal Matthew Schwartz

Yesterday we all were treated to Matt Schwartz’s awesome STRAIGHT OUTTA GOTHAM mashup, and today…lo and behold, we find that Matt’s at it again and needs our support.

Yep, dood’s on Kickstarter for the next 22 days, looking for funding for his latest music video. But why should we strain at finding the right words of explanation when Matt’s already got ’em:

In October 2014, I got laid off (thanks, Obama!) and was unsure what to do with myself. I had spent 20 years in the entertainment business working on indie films, developing animated TV, building websites, and producing games. (You can check out my online portfolio for the highlights.) Rather than look at my situation as a setback, I looked at it as an opportunity. What could I realistically do with my newfound creative freedom coupled with the added benefit of a decent severance package? read article
