Because you demanded it!

Oh, erm, wait. We don’t mean, um, that you demanded that Season 1 come to an end. We mean that, you know, you demanded that TVWriter™ show you the ending. read article

Adventures of a Web Series Newbie: Chapter 19 – Five (More) Things

So, another week of being absolutely swamped and not attending a cool YouTube seminar. I have so much coming up–the TOP SECRET PROJECT, working on the relaunch and getting the whole Lele expansion into place, I literally don’t have the time for nearly anything.

And…I’m prepping for the Chilltown Season Finale. Yes, it’s coming up next week and it’s wonderful and sad and scary all at once. This has been an unbelievable six months (feels like I’ve been at this for years.) In July, I’m taking a few weeks to just write and put plans together and then hitting the ground running in full production mode. read article

Chapter 18: The Whole Branding Thing (sigh)
by Leesa Dean

This week I was invited to a special YouTube screening. The invite said I was selected to attend, which was pretty cool (I literally couldn’t believe I was invited!) But, unfortunately, I couldn’t make it. I had planned to, even registered to attend, but was so involved working on this TOP SECRET PROJECT, I just didn’t have time. In fact, the night of the screening, I was up till 3am rendering/animating. The screening had top YouTubers discuss best practices for taking with advertisers regarding branding with a panel.

The truth: no advertiser is going to be interested in branding my show. Yet. You really need to have a substantial amount of subscribers/viewer retention for that. I’m doing well but not SMOSH well. I’ve got under 800 subscribers. I think I’d have to have at least 20,000-30,0000 (at least) before those kinds of conversations start to happen. It would have been interesting to hear what they had to say, though… read article

Leesa Dean: At Last! The Secret of Showbiz Success

goodthingsAdventures of a Web Series Newbie Chapter 17 – Yet Another Offer
by Leesa Dean

So I took the weekend off. Since launching, I’ve been working seven days a week. That’s pretty much what it takes to do this. Especially if you don’t have a team helping. Having some time off was incredible. And relaxing. And necessary.

Played some tennis (I am a tennis fanatic), chilled out with friends, read, mostly stayed off the grid. Mostly. And magically when I started back up on Monday, it felt effortless. Now that there’s only one Chilltown episode left in Season 1 (I’m planning on relaunching the series in a secret special way in the Fall), some of the pressure is definitely off. Which is a bit of a relief. So I’ve officially decided to spend the summer taking weekends off (mostly.) To partially recharge and gear up for the Fall, which I know is going to be INTENSE. I’ll still be working on all the Lele shows and the new projects, which I’m really loving.   But versus putting in about 90 hours a week, I’ll only be doing about 60.

So Tuesday morning, I wake up to another online network offer. And it was BAD. read article
