Fox Buys Detective Drama From Writer Chris Levinson And Chernin Entertainment – by Nellie Andreeva (Deadline.Com)
Fox has made a premium script deal for a character-driven cop-drama from Chernin Entertainment and 20th Century Fox TV. Written by Chris Levinson (Touch), the untitled project centers on a major crimes detective who starts slowly losing his memory. Faced with the prospect of losing his career and family, the cop ends up putting his entire life under surveillance. What begins as an effort to restore missing pieces of his waking hours becomes a 24/7 window into a world where nothing is ever as it appears. WME-repped Levinson executive produces with Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope. The project stems from a two-script deal Levinson inked with Chernin Entertainment last year. She most recently served as a co-executive producer on the Chernin/20th TV drama series for Fox Touch. Her series credits also include Law & Order and Lone Star.
The network also picked up a script centered on a high-end Los Angeles hotel from the screenwriter of “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.”
NBC’s 2013-14 development season is in full swing, with the network giving script orders to a brothers comedy and hotel drama.
The untitled brothers effort is a multicamera comedy from Saturday Night Live‘s Seth Meyers and his younger brother, Josh Meyers (Mad TV).

Penguin’s Author Solutions Signs First-Look Deal with Thruline Entertainment – by Nellie Andreeva
EXCLUSIVE: U.S. Self-publishing firm Author Solutions, which was recently acquired by Penguin Group’s parent for $116 million, has closed a first-look partnership with management/production company Thruline Entertainment. Under the pact, Thruline and its production division Tagline (Psych) will have first crack at all coverages, treatments, and screenplays developed though ASI’s Book-to-Screen and Hollywood Trailer services with an eye at turning them into feature film or television projects.
ASI and Thruline are already working on two adaptations via Author Solutions’ million-dollar development fund: the teen-thriller Hide and Seek, adapted by screenwriter John Swetnam (Evidence), is being shopped, and horror novella Hush is in the process of being adapted by screenwriter Ben Ketai (30 Days of Night: Dark Days). Additionally, Tagline is already developing a television series based on a title that came through the ASI pipeline: Searching for Sassy by author Alyson Mead.
