Larry David’s Movie Now for HBO, Not Theaters – by Margaret Lyons (Vulture.Com)
Larry David’s upcoming movie starring Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton looks like it won’t be a theatrical release after all. According to the L.A.Times, HBO offered a bigger budget than Fox Searchlight, so the mostly secret project appears to be heading to HBO instead of the big screen. Neurosis is format-neutral, though, so as long as this movie comes together in some capacity, we’re happy. (Well, “happy.” It’s a Larry David project. No one is happy-happy.)
Okay, so the only other bidder wasn’t a megabucks-spending studio but the artsy distribution arm of one of them. It’s still a rejection that probably was unwarranted. What happened? Fox Searchlight didn’t think that the star of MAD MEN was worth more than a buck ninety-five?

USA Network Developing Projects With ‘Psych,’ ‘Royal Pains’ Creators – by Philiana Ng
USA Network is continuing to build relationships with the creators of its long-running shows.
The studio’s trying to get a reading on how this will go down with the audience. At least, that’s the only explanation we can come up with for this particular interweb speculation:
ABC And Marvel Eying ‘Avengers’-Themed TV Series – by Nellie Andreeva (Deadline.Com)
EXCLUSIVE: After scoring huge at the box office with its Avengers movie, Marvel is looking to explore the mythology on the small screen too. I’ve learned that Marvel’s TV division is in conversation with ABC and ABC Studios about doing a drama series in the Avengers world. I hear that the connection to the Avengers franchise would be light as the project is expected to be set in the universe and feature some of its themes and feel, but may not include any characters from Joss Whedon’s blockbuster.
So there I was, talking to my friend Curtis Gwynn about the misery of pitch meetings, only to have him stop me and pull the trigger on the question I’d always been afraid to ask myself:
“C’mon, LB,” Curtis said, “spill. What’s the real reason you hate these meetings so much?”
