How Do Artists Differ From Bank Officers?

Think you’re special, do you? Artistic. Sensitive. Unique.

The way we see it, if you’re visiting TVWriter™ you probably are. But that’s just us. Time now for some real proof. (Or at least some Very Important Facts to help you – and us too – get through another creative day:)

What are creative people like? As we saw in my prior post, various creativity researchers tend to converge on the same conclusion: creative people are complex. Creative people have a great deal of physical energy, but often need their rest. They tend to be both introverted and extroverted at the same darn time. And perhaps most strikingly, their high levels of openness to experience and sensitivity expose them to great suffering and pain as well as intense joy and euphoria. read article

LUTHER’S Back on BBC

CoolLutherAnnouncementCapture

…And this, our favorite detective show (since our last favorite detective show) will be on BBC America in September. In fact, the whole third series will run on consecutive nights, September 3rd through 6th.

According to UK broadcasting sources, the ratings for LUTHER’s BBC debut, after almost two years off the air, were its lowest debut numbers so far. Could audiences actually be tiring of the star, Idris Elba? Are Brits simply waiting for him to appear as Heimdall in the next AVENGERS film instead? What the heck is going on here? read article

The Disney Empire’s Founding Character Makes a Just – and Impressive – Return!

If you’re like us, you probably never got what all the fuss about Mickey Mouse was about. I mean, dude’s boring. Been boring since the ’20s, or the ’30s at the latest.

But the Disney Channel has brought the old geezer and his gang – Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and more – to the Disney Channel in a series of 3+ minute shorts done in a kind of “Hippest of the ’60s” animation style, and we gotta say, “We’re digging this.”

We believe you will too. read article

Who is Herbie J Pilato?

Glad you asked. We at TVWriter™ have known long-time contributor Herbie J since the site’s inception over a decade ago, giving us lots of stories to tell. So many, in fact, that there’s no way we do them justice. So we cast about for somebody else who could pick up the reins. Here’s the result:

Author, actor, producer and singer/songwriter Herbie J Pilato is a modern-day Renaissance man with a purpose; he’s an inspiration – a guiding force to a present and future group of what he calls “Hollywood hopefuls.”

“I love Hollywood – and I love it for all the right reasons,” he says with a gleam of bright light and enthusiasm in his warm brown eyes that glisten during an early spring lunch at the Casa Cabo Mexican restaurant in Burbank, California (where Pilato resides). “This is a very nostalgic place for me,” he says of Casa Cabo, formerly the famous Chadney’s eatery that sat across the street from the former NBC Studios. read article
