LB: Gaming the System doesn’t work…

…At least, it doesn’t work all that well. But guess what–

Using it does.

In our culture, “competition” has become the name of the game, but that doesn’t mean that our writerly creations are competing with each other. It means that we as creators are.

In showbiz, that makes adapting your usual approach to other humans in general and to the oft-dreaded sales situations you have to put yourself into (like pitching and – yikes! – meet and greets) is something we all have to learn to live with.

The secret is finding that special twist so irresistible to buyers that it clinches you sale.

Robert Rodriguez said it best while talking abut his new deal at HBO Max:

‘Just jack the system’
