An anonymous tipster in a well-tilted fedora let us in on Doctor Who: The Angel’s Kiss, by Justin Richards, a kind of pseudo-novel now available from Random House. It purports to be the book the Doctor reads in the last episode featuring Amy and Rory as his – and our – beloved companions.
A quick synopsis:

This was one of the other days…Melody Malone, owner and sole employee of the Angel Detective Agency, has an unexpected caller. It’s movie star Rock Railton, and he thinks someone is out to kill him. When he mentions the ‘kiss of the Angel’, she takes the case. Angels are Melody’s business…
At the press party for Railton’s latest movie, studio owner Max Kliener invites Melody to the film set of their next blockbuster. He’s obviously spotted her potential, and Melody is flattered when Kliener asks her to become a star. But the cost of fame, she’ll soon discover, is greater than anyone could possibly imagine.
Will Melody be able to escape Kliener’s dastardly plan – before the Angels take Manhattan?

EDITED BY LB TO ADD: Before we go, a thought about the Doctor’s “beloved” Ponds. Many viewers of the ep in question felt that it was rushed and that the Ponds went too easily into the gentle night. That is, that neither the Doctor nor Rory and Amy tried hard enough to beat the Angels.
Gotta tell you, I have no problem whatsoever with this. The way I see this episode, it’s part of a sub plot that began halfway through last season, when it started to seem as though the Doctor really was getting kind of tired of the Ponds (I know I was) and they were getting tired of him. That came through loud and clear in the web series that was part of the build-up to DOCTOR WHO’s return, and in the first 4 episodes of the season, when Amy and Rory thought more and more about having a normal life while paying lip service to the Doctor about staying with him forever…and the Doctor told them how much he wanted them to remain his companions – and looked extremely uncomfortable when he did so. Like a man who was, you know, lying.
So it seems to me that the Angels time displacement shtick was the perfect excuse both sides needed to end the relationship and move on with their lives. For Amy and Rory, the move wasn’t quite the one they’d planned, but it obviously was better than the status quo.
