Many writers are so brimming with ideas it’s hard to know how to choose one and continue on, spinning that one story when so many other clamor for attention.
Other writers are great at the writing part, but are hard pressed to come up with that first idea; that seed from which to grow the organic story they dream of.
We admit it. We slept through most of FORREST GUMP. It was the opening bars of the opening theme that done us in. For years, tho, we wouldn’t tell anybody cuz GUMP is sacred, you know? Especially to film school types.

Bet you didn’t know you had to be a lifetime student of human behavior in order to be a writer of any ability, did you? Well, you do, so get used to it.
If you’re a writer of any stripe, that’s exactly what you are. Because, if you aren’t, your writing will be stale, boring, and strumming away on one note. Whether you’re a fiction writer, a screenwriter, a journalist, a copywriter or any combination or discipline you must study people.
Of course you do. Modern culture frowns on lone/lonely writers. Dissertations could, or should, be written on this change from the alienated writer to the social butterfly creative guy/gal and the effect that has on the work/product/piece of crap/genius that appears when all the toil is over–
But I digress. Let me start over:
Pardon me, Everyone. Today’s post is geared towards writers and self-published authors doing their hustle to get paid and/or published. I’ve been doing some reorganization of my favorites list recently and come to the conclusion I have a lot of useful writing links that might benefit my fellow scribes out there. So please feel free to plunder through these links like good little Vikings and take anything of value.
