…And then explain it to us, okay?
We’re serious here. What happened is that last week TVWriter™ got an email inquiry about the People’s Pilot contest from a writer with an addy @termite.org and that so piqued our interest that we had to find out what Termite.Org was.
So we, you know, googled. And clicked. And found the “Termite Television Collective” AKA Termite TV, with the provocative subheading: “Media is a controlled substance.”
And we found this equally provocative announcement:
Call for new work: SURVEILLANCE
Termite TV is soliciting new work for its Surveillance-themed show to debut in April 2013. For the last 20 years, Termite has been producing 30 minute compilation video programs for distribution online, on PhillyCAM, and at community & gallery screenings. This Spring’s show is centered around the theme of SURVEILLANCE (see below for some ideas to get you excited!)
We’re also looking for an exhibition space that supports installation work, so we’re interested in that too.
If you’re interested in creating new work of any genre or revisiting old pieces, please submit a short paragraph that includes:

Yes, we realize it’s after January 4th, but missing a deadline shouldn’t stop the truly dedicated TV writer-peer producer, so we think somebody out there should give this place a try and let us know what happens.
We also think that somebody out there at Termite TV should get in touch with us ASAP and fill us in on what they’re all about. Cuz we really think you’re cool.
In the meantime, here’s what our googling has shown us:
Founded in 1992, Termite TV is a video collective with members based in Philadelphia, PA and Buffalo, NY. The mission of Termite TV Collective is to produce, distribute and facilitate the creation of experimental and activist media that challenges the status quo and provides an alternative to corporate media. We value working collaboratively across artistic disciplines, inspiring other artists, encouraging the expression of multiple styles and points of view, risk-taking, innovation and the blend of humor and intelligent critique in our work.
To date we have produced over 40 programs which have been broadcast nationally on television and screened at festivals and museums worldwide.
Termite TV is funded in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and individual donors.
Sounds like a pretty cool place to work and learn, so we know y’all will want to find out more. Which is why we’re telling you that Termite TV is HERE.
