Gerry Day was one of the greats of television writing, with a career that spanned almost the entire existence of the TV industry. Almost all of us writing and reading this have seen something she wrote – because she wrote a helluva lot and it was all good stuff.
Most television sites on the web have overlooked Gerry’s passing. Stephen Bowie’s Classic TV History Blog did not, and for that we should all be glad:

Fox Audience Strategy has named the sophomore class of its Writers Intensive (FWI), the company’s talent-nurturing program that launched in late 2011 and named its first fellow last year. One individual from the company’s talent-cultivating program, which recently expanded to include film and book components, will see their script developed.
The editorial team behind productivity blog 99U.Com is starting another blog, called Workbook.Com and is looking for freelance writers to staff it.

I loved ’em a lot, so it was an especially proud moment for me to learn that the brilliant and multi-talented Robin Walsh, who’s been hanging with us at TVWriter™ for about 2 and a half million years (that’s right, since before the religious right says the planet was “created”) was one of the puppeteers, playing the co-pilot and Hospital Denzel.
