Flash-163The toughest part of the story, inevitably, is the beginning. How do you get the narrative ball rolling? How do you get somebody’s attention so that they want, maybe need, to hear what happens next?

It’s also the toughest part of a pitch or a proposal. If you can’t grab the editor’s eyeballs in the first sentence, give it up. They won’t make it through the end of the paragraph. read article
