For Team TVWriter™, the judging was a wild ride, with the top 5 scoring entries in both the Comedy and Drama/Action categories constantly changing places, and it took several weeks for the final team of judges to make its selection.
In the Comedy category, the judges favored 1st Place finisher Steven Block’s THE BOOK OF JOEY for its humor, irreverence, and potential series longevity.
And on the Drama/Action side, Meredith Bagby’s THE FUCKING NEW GUYS took the top spot, finishing well ahead of its rivals because of its “cracking good script about a fascinating subject, populated with characters you can root for. “
Not only the Winners, but all entrants in this year’s PEOPLE’S PILOT will of course be receiving LB’s personal Feedback on their work. He’ll be starting on this not-exactly-insignificant project early next week.
As usual, the boss is flying solo on this, writing each Feedback email himself, which means it may take awhile for yours to arrive, so we hope you’ll be patient. Please, no angry “Where’s my Feedback, dammit?!” messages – until at least the end of spring, okay?
Congratulations to the Winners, Runners-Up, Finalists, Semi-Finalists, and everybody who entered. We Really Love You Mean It for all the work you’ve put in and hope you love yourselves for it as well. You are the possessors of extraordinary talent, courage, and perseverance and should be very, very proud!
