Australian youth culture site Backyard Opera has an interesting opening for an interesting writer. Here’s the pitch:
Backyard Opera is looking for fresh, forward thinking contributors for its youth culture publication. We cover everything from Fashion, Arts and Culture, Food and Music.
We are looking for writers who are interested in creating engaging content, and would love to get their work published. Contributors will need to be available for 3 months at least 1 day per week. (8 hours)
Who do you need to be?
We are looking for motivated, connected writers who want to build a body of work. You need to be organised, hard working and dedicated to producing quality content to a deadline. You need to be assertive and confident enough to chase the story down and make the most of your time at Backyard Opera.
Preferably you have or are studying a relevant tertiary course and have writing experience that you are looking to build on. You will also need to supply your own laptop.
What’s in it for you?
Despite being unpaid, Backyard Opera will provide a platform to publish your work, as well as a fun and friendly working environment with unlimited coffee. We will also accredit hours worked for any relevant University subjects.
How to apply?
Send your CV and cover letter explaining why you should be considered as well as the field you feel most comfortable writing about and examples of your writing.
