TVWriter™ congratulates all the Semi-Finalists. Your work is awesome.

As usual, making these choices was extremely difficult for the judges. The most competitive category was TV Movie/Screenplay/Special. In addition to there being more entries in that category than any other, TV Movie/Screenplay/Special entry scores were grouped much closer to each other than those in any other category.

The judges had a grand time reading all the submissions, although things have been a little less comfortable now that we’re nailing down the Finalists in all the categories. But you’ll learn more about that in our next report.

Celebrate with abandon, Semi-Finalists. You’ve earned the right!

TVWriter™ congratulates all the Semi-Finalists. You’re awesome.

The overall caliber of the entries made the judges’ choices extremely difficult. The most competitive category was Sitcom. In addition to there being almost twice as many sitcom entries as in any other category, Sitcoms had more scores in the 9-10 range than we’ve ever had in the entire contest before.

Similarly, the bar definitely was raised in the Action/Drama/Dramedy category and the TV Movie/Screenplay/Special. The judges had a ball reading everything…and you should have heard the fights over who the Semi-Finalists should be.

On second thought, we’re probably all better off because you didn’t. Celebrate well, Semi-Finalists. You prevailed over the toughest opponents in the Spec Scriptacular yet and deserve to brag, brag, brag.

TVWriter™ congratulates all the Semi-Finalists. You’re awesome.

As usual, the overall caliber of the entries made the judges’ choices extremely difficult. Especially impressive were the sitcom entries, which were worthy of high-fives all around. Nevertheless, the judges were quite happy about the professional quality that abounded in all the categories…and just as depressed about not being able to put everything they read on this list.

Have yourselves a big night out! Call your friends and loved ones and tell ’em the big news! And come back in two weeks for the Finals!

COMING NEXT WEEK: The People’s Pilot Finalists.

LB: Special PEOPLE’S PILOT & SPEC SCRIPTACULAR Announcement

ppsslogos

They said it couldn’t be done, but the hard-working TVWriter™ minions have fooled them again, making it possible for me to announce this special announcement about an announcement to, um, come.

Heh, that didn’t quite work, did it? Let me calm my excited self and try again.

How’s this:

Exceeding all expectations, including my own, the TVWriter™ staff and the judges of both the People’s Pilot and the Spec Scriptacular are mere days away from finalizing the first round of judging in both of our writing contests.

Mark your calendars because barring the unexpected, we’ll be announcing the People’s Pilot Semi-Finalists right here on this site next week, either Thursday or Friday, and the Spec Scriptacular Semi-Finalists the week after.

That means that the following week, unless the Spanish Inquisition takes us by surprise (as we’ve seen happen on TV a time or two), we’ll announce People’s Pilot Finalists and, God willin’ and global warmin’ doesn’t do us in, the following week we’ll tell you who the Spec Scriptacular Finalists are, and then…

Then, during the first and second weeks of September, it’ll be Winners time!

That’s the plan right now anyway. And we’re almost 100% sure that at least the first part of it will be.

So do what you’ve got to do, psych up, suck it in, and keep your eyes on the wonderfulness of https://tvwriter.com (and https://tvwriter.com too) for the People’s Pilot Semi-Finalists 7 – or less – days.

Here’s hoping at least one of them will be – you.

As usual, we had a very impressive group of entrants. The scores in general were unexpectedly high, making the judges’ choices extremely difficult. In all three categories, Semi-Finalists were separated from those that didn’t make the hunt by mere fractions of a point. In fact, for the first time in all 18 runnings of the SS, the judges considered over 90% of all the entries to be “professional quality.”

In other words, you were awesome. Everyone who entered should be beaming with delight. Our thanks and congratulations to all who entered.

As with the PEOPLE’S PILOT Semi-Finalists, we’re also posting this list of extraordinary Semi-Finalists on the SPEC SCRIPTACULAR News Page.

Come back in two weeks to see which of the above have made it to the Finals.

We admit it. We’re jazzed.

(Why two weeks? Because next week it’s The PEOPLE’S PILOT Finalists’ turn.)
