Latest News About Writers Who Are Doing Better Than We Are
by munchman

  • Keir Pearson (HOTEL RWANDA) is writing a History Channel mini-series about the Knights Templar. (Cuz THE VIKINGS has been giving mind-blowing ratings to that very same network and, thanks to GAME OF THRONES medieval life is very, very in on TV in general. Doesn’t feel right, though, this from Oscar-nominated scribe to History Channel hack thing. Yer Friendly Neighborhood Munchman really wishes he knew the backstory of this turn of events.)
  • Jamie Denbo (RONNA & BEVERLY) is adapting the stage musical RATED P FOR PARENTHOOD into a sitcom for ABC Family. (Cuz the producer is the multi-talented – What? You didn’t know? – TV mogul-genius Kelly Ripa and ABC wants to do business with her on account of…on account of…well, damn, I can’t #@%! imagine. Can somebody tell me?)
  • There’s been a major changeover in the highest level executive suite at Fox Network, and maybe some of it can work in your favor. If you’re friends with Beth Miyares, time to be vewy, vewy good to her cuz she’s the new VP of Drama Development and Programming over there. And if you happen to hang with Conor Welch, now’s a good time to play baseball with the dood cuz he’s the new VP of Comedy Development and Programming. (This has been a public service announcement from the muncher, who wants nothing in return but, well, a staff writing gig on your new Fox series if you sell one would be nice.)
  • Speaking of executives, here’s a cool little bit of news. Caitlin Foito is the new VP of Drama Development at ABC so make nice to her if you dare. (Oh, and this is the munchiest part: Caitlin is the exec that Beth Miyares is replacing at Fox. Does this mean that ABC has a death wish? I mean, Ms. Foito’s develoment slate included such gems as RAKE, ALMOST HUMAN, and THE FOLLOWING, and while ALMOST HUMAN had its quality moments, the only one of those that survived one season is THE FOLLOWING cuz…mass murder, which may or may not have anything to do with executive acumen, know what I’m saying? )
